You Will Be Unprepared Indeed. —
Zack Snyder poses as one of the most creative and skillful directors of filmmaking I have seen in a long time. The presentation, exaggeration of scenery, and pure rawness of his direction is breathtaking in a film land comprised of remakes and failed ambitions.
However, in his past successful films — most notably 300 and the greatly acclaimed Watchmen (happens to be on the list of my favorite films of all time I may add) — the story line has hatched from a novel or previous plotline. With that being said, Sucker Punch acts as Snyder’s real first attempt at original storytelling. So, is the director’s long awaited 5-year venture up to the expectations of his previous presentations? Yes and no.
