So is the Bachelor Racist?? Two men who auditioned for the ABC reality show say YES, and are suing the show for it! Christopher Johnson, a former wide receiver for Tennessee State, and Nathaniel Claybrooks, a linebacker for the Nashville Storm, said that when arriving to the Nashville ‘Bachelor’ auditions, they were asked “why are you here.” Later, the two men were taken off to a side room and removed from the normal audition process. Both plaintiffs said they were never given a call back.

The two have decided to file a class action lawsuit against creator of the show Mike Fleiss, ABC, Warner Horizon Television, Next Entertainment, and NZK Productions. In the 10 years and 23 seasons the show has been aired, there has never been a African American Bachelor.

Last year, Entertainment Weekly asked Fleiss why we have never seen a Bachelor or Bachelorette who was not white. He responded  with, “We really tried, but sometimes we feel guilty of tokenism. Oh, we have to wedge African-American chicks in there! We always want to cast for ethnic diversity, it’s just that for whatever reason, they don’t come forward. I wish they would.”
