Big Boi Talks Selling Socks, Solo Album, Outkast Reunion

In a Q&A with British GQ, Big Boi opened up about his latest ventures — his forthcoming third solo album, his foray into his own line of designer socks, as well as the status of the long awaited reunion of Outkast.

Excerpts below:

Your pink and green socks tonight were particularly special…

I’m the sock king! They’ve got a cape on the back – that’s how I flew here. I got my own socks line coming out with Crooks & Castles.  Head over to 677 Antone Street, Atlanta Georgia, 30318 and get some!

How’s your second solo album coming along?

It’s coming good, I just put out two records from it – “She Said OK” with Theophilus London and “Gossip” with UGK and Big K.R.I.T. The fans are excited.  On the new album I’ve got Kid Cudi and Little Dragon. I just did a cut with A$AP Rocky the other night too, so it’s action-packed.

In “Gossip”, Pimp C, who died in 2007, makes an appearance…

I had the verse for years. It was on another un-released record that I had from Organized Noize and it just matched up perfectly. I was already getting Bun B on there and just to put Pimp C on there made it turn out great.

Would you consider a Pimp C hologram á la Tupac?

I don’t know. We’re trying to figure it out right now how we’re going to do the video. We’re going to do something creative. That Tupac hologram was spooky… but dope.
