Experts on preparing a tasty Thanksgiving turkey are taking calls at the Butterball Turkey Talk-Line. Talk-Line supervisor says it’s a good idea to buy your turkey and put it in the refrigerator instead of the freezer until Thanksgiving Day. She says thawing a whole bird requires one day in the refrigerator for every four pounds of turkey. In a hurry? Put a frozen turkey in cold water with the breast side down and changing the water every half-hour to speed up thawing. The Butterball Turkey Talk-Line staff is expecting to help more than one-million cooks by phone, email, live chat and social media. The Talk-Line number is 1-800-288-8372 and it will be open from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central time on Thanksgiving Day.
