Lil Wayne: ‘Carter V’ Is My Last Album

Here we go with another retirement. Why can’t rappers just allow themselves to fall off naturally like the good old days? Since Jay-Z announced he was retiring after Vol.2 Hard Knock Life, then again after The Black Album (literally the Mike Jordan of rap) only to return a few years later, rappers have been calling it a career at the height of their success so much it has become a gimmick. Lil Wayne has become the latest to report he will hang up his microphone.

Speaking from experience you can never really quit Hip Hop cold turkey, especially when you are an international star (I never made it that far). Look at artists like Doug E. Fresh, Big Daddy Kane, LL Cool J, and Will Smith to name a few. Almost completely irrelevant to today’s Hip Hop generation, yet still selling out shows on nostalgia tours across the country.
