In an interview with MTV’s Sway, rapper-turned-pastor Ma$e talked about his multiple retirements and finally being let out of his Bad Boy Records contract.

“I retired once in 1999 but in 2004 I was held under so much paperwork that I couldn’t do anything,” he says of his attempt to return to the game. “Diddy wanted 50 to give him all of the money he thought I owed him, and I thought he owed ME money…so that was the invisible battle. When I did the tour with Diddy I was doing it for free at first. Everything in my life there’s been this drastic stand to get paid from it. That whole ‘No Way Out’ tour I was doing it for free. So when I stopped getting paid I stopped going out. So they got Lil Cease to do my parts…”

Watch the clip to hear the rest of the details on his G-Unit contract and his escape from Bad Boy.
