Beyoncé’s fans were beside themselves when she launched her personal Tumblr account and shared her very first tweet earlier this year, so imagine their delight when “BaddieBey” also popped up on Instagram in November. B has been diligent about using the photo-sharing site, but are fans really getting what they want from her photos?

The 31-year-old is notoriously guarded when it comes to her personal life, and while there is very little advice we could give to the multi-platinum star (who’s set to perform at the upcoming Super Bowl halftime show) we do have a bit of input: fewer staged portraits, more behind-the-scenes shots, please!

Thus far, Beyoncé’s Instagram photos have been heavy on the posed snapshots showing off her outfits and accessories, but fans are really clamoring to see the mind-blowing backstage and behind-the-scenes photos of events, exotic locations and fabulous people they could only imagine, but are an everyday reality for one of the world’s biggest stars. Here are some hits and misses from B’s year in Instagrams:

Glamming Up 2013

On New Year’s Eve, Bey shared a photo of herself performing at theWynn Hotel in Las Vegas at a private, invite-only show. While fans never tire of that fabulous mane and her curve-hugging outfits — what happened backstage? Did she hop on a private jet after her performance to join husband Jay-Z back in Brooklyn? What does her dressing room like look? Show us more!

Hometown, Represent!

A Houston Rockets cap, bright red lipstick and a pair of gold hoop earrings engraved with “ratchet.” Was Beyoncé really wearing this outfit while traipsing around #HTown? We would certainly like to know. The photo, if taken in the context of her day in Houston, as opposed to a staged shot with a blurry background would’ve been a big win.

Thanks for the Throwback!

It’s unlikely that you’d catch Beyoncé rocking gold teeth these days, but her #flashbackfriday photos are a reminder of how far she’s come over the past decade, and she should definitely keep these coming.

Down to Brooklyn

The Carters have been photographed sitting courtside at Brooklyn Nets games over the past few weeks, but it’s good to know that Hov’s wife isn’t too cool to stop for a picture in front of the Nets logo post-game (just like the many fans who’ve passed through the new stadium).
