Just when you thought Azealia Banks was having a change of heart on calling folks out, she up and makes things entertaining by saying something a lot of folks are thinking. What did she say? Why, let’s discuss:

While posting on Twitter about random thoughts she has (“Lol do you talk to yourselves sometime? like practice conversations you wanna have with people, or just straight up talk to urself.?”), the female MC decided to let the world know that there is a trend going on with young white women behaving “ratchet” for attention, and she doesn’t like it.

“no but seriously can this weird obsession white girls are having with being “ratchet” go away???..”

“… its actually rather embarrassing.”

“Don’t be a wigger in 2013.”

Seeing as the only white woman I could think of who is having any type of ratchet fun in public is Miley Cyrus, I assumed like many others that her statement was an indirect shot at the “We Can’t Stop” singer. Of course, Cyrus’ new style and new music (the lyrical content at least) has been something we here at MN have been giving the side-eye to recently, so when we saw Banks’ statement about such a “weird obsession” we could only make the “OKAY!?” face. Surprisingly, Cyrus responded to such an indirect shot with her own, shouting out Jay-Z lyrics and letting folks know that she’s winning whether they like it or not:

“Call it what you want. But I don’t see Mr. Carter shoutin any of you b***hes out. #twerkmileytwerk ✌”

“Exactly right. I am an old worlds worst nightmare. #outwiththeold #inwiththenewnew”

Interestingly enough, Jay-Z turned around and retweeted her statement as he took over Twitter yesterday to answer questions from fans and critics about his new album. He probably had no idea what Cyrus was talking about, but was glad for the lyrical plug after he shouted out Miley’s love for twerking in the new song, “Somewhere In America” for the Magna Carta Holy Grail album. As for a response from Banks, she claimed she wasn’t talking about anybody in particular (riiiiight) but if you’re ratchet and you know it, then that statement was for you:

“I wasn’t even talking about you….LMAO….. but if the shoe fits. :-”

“LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOO.”

Young people these days… What do you make of all this?
