WATER COOLER TALK: The internet is buzzing with a new lawsuit. Robin Thicke, Pharrell and T.I. are taking Marvin Gaye’s “camp” to court to protect their song “Blurred Lines”.

Why? Because The suit claims the Gaye family is alleging that “Blurred Lines” and Gaye’s “Got to Give It Up” “feel” or “sound” the same, and that the “Gaye defendants are claiming ownership of an entire genre, as opposed to a specific work.”

Robin Thicke did say that “Blurred Lines” was inspired by Gaye’s “Got to Give It Up,” but the lawsuit makes the point that “being reminiscent of a ‘sound’ is not copyright infringement. The intent in producing ‘Blurred Lines’ was to evoke an era.” Thicke claims there are no samples used of Gaye’s song.

So I want to know, do you think that Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines sounds so much like Gaye’s Got to Give it Up that they should owe them money?  Check out the songs below & take the survey!
