Social media has been ablaze with fans of rapper Lil Boosie celebrating his release from Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola on Wednesday, celebrations which actor Jason Weaver (Drumline, Smart Guy) calls some “coon s***.

The actor took to Instagram to express his disgust over the glorification of a rapper in prison for drug possession, one who was also charged — and acquitted of — first degree murder in the shooting death of Terry Boyd.

Ok so…. I see a lot ppl on IG posting stuff about Lil Boosie gettin out of prison, talmbout “Welcome Home” “Boosie Back” and all kinds of other coon shit. Listen man, no disrespect to Boosie or anyone else for that matter who has ever been incarcerated, but the problem I have with the IG posts regarding him gettin out is it’s being displayed like it’s some kind of thing to celebrate. I’m sorry man, but why can’t we celebrate young black men who have stayed OUT of prison? I’m not judging Boosie or any other individual who may have faced similar circumstances. It would sure be cool though if we posted more pics of our young brothas receiving high school diplomas, college degrees, and cool shit like that instead of a playa gettin out of prison mane. I’m about celebrating milestones in young black men’s lives that we can REALLY be proud of! Like for real… C’mon son!! Sorry for the rant, but I just had to say it.#KanyeShrug

As previously reported by NewsOne, Lil Boosie, real name Torrence Hatch, was already serving a four-year prison sentence for drugs and gun possession when he was found guilty of conspiring to smuggle codeine, marijuana and ecstasy into two state prisons — Angola and Dixon Correctional Institute in Jackson, La.

Upon his release yesterday, an Instagram video of his young daughter freely using the n-word with adults laughing in the background  has gone viral:

I told y’all ni**as! I told y’all ni**as! Y’all thought I was playing, but I told you! Boosie coming home today, he coming home today, he coming home today. Told y’all! Y’all better believe it. The streets is his!

Weaver himself was arrested in Atlanta in 2011 f0r “urinating/defecating” on someone’s lawn.
