The Ray Rice assault situation has become even more interesting.
If you think Mr. Rice is trying to pull a slick legal move, you might be right, but it’ll be hard to prove since they had already planned to do so.
As we also reported, Rice allegedly assaulted Palmer on February 15 and surveillance video shows him dragging her limp body out of the elevator. He was charged with third degree aggravated assault on Thursday.
According to ESPN … Rice and Palmer got hitched on Friday in a ceremony that had been planned for a couple of weeks.
OK, now we get back to the “is he being slick” part. You know, like did they had a shotgun wedding so she couldn’t be forced to testify against Ray … it’s something called spousal privilege. However, it won’t apply here.
And why is that? Because in New Jersey, (and many other states) spousal privilege does NOT apply if the alleged crime was committed against your spouse.
