Meeting with more than a little retribution, Olympic track runner Lolo Jones paid for her Twitter joke about Rihanna, Drake and the Espy Awards.
Poking a little fun on Thursday (April 10), the 31-year-old wrote, “It’s amazing that Drake is hosting the @Espys but it’s gonna be tough for him to hand out all those awards to Rihanna’s ex boyfriends.”
Receiving a plethora of criticism for her joke, the runner and bobsledder seemed unbothered by the angry fans, writing on Friday, “Paleeeze. watching monologues of past espys, my joke was PG compared to how The ESPY Host will roast athletes there.”
A few of the less explicit tweets read, “If they put a finish line at the end of the red carpet at the ESPY’s, @lolojones won’t enter the building.”
“If Lolo Jones could run #DemFeets like she run her mouth she’d be a champion.”
“Rihanna has an album called “loud” which ironically describes the sound of that hurdle @lolojones missed.”
