According to The Urban Daily:

Jose Vergara Acevedo entered an elevator on the first floor of a new apartment complex in Santiago, Chile. Before the doors could even completely close, the elevator began its rapid climb, eventually slamming into the ceiling of the building and critically hurting Acevedo!

The elevator stayed at the top floor, where emergency personnel were able to rescue Acevedo. He’s currently in stable condition in intensive care after suffering leg and head injuries, and reportedly may not be able to walk again because of damage to his spine.
