Both The Hollywood Reporter and Entertainment Weekly report ABC and John Ridley are scheduled to team up on an upcoming reboot of a currently unnamed Marvel Comics superhero. Ridley is best known for the Academy Award-winning 2013 film 12 Years A Slave, as well as the ABC drama “American Crime,” and the films Redtails and Jimi: All Is By My Side.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Marvel project will focus on the brand’s existing superheroes, and it would fall under an existing overall deal Ridley has with ABC. The proposed Ridley show would also bring a second Marvel property to ABC, since the network is currently running “Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.”

Prior to rejoining the television world with “American Crime,” Ridley worked on the television adaptation of “Barbershop,” “The Wanda Sykes Show,” and “Third Watch.” You can read the full story at The Hollywood Reporter’s website.
