Internet juggernaut Google is apologizing after a quick search of a racist term in their maps produced White House results.

On Monday, the internet community took to Twitter to express outrage over the findings, prompting many to search the phrase “n*gger house” themselves to see if maps focused in on the Washington D.C. treasure now occupied by President Barack Obama and family.

A quick search by NewsOne also produced results for Underground Railroad TV in Chicago.

“Some inappropriate results are surfacing in Google Maps that should not be, and we apologize for any offense this may have caused,” A Google spokesperson said in a statement. “Our teams are working to fix this issue quickly.”

From The Washington Post:

A mounting list of such pranks has led Google to suspend people’s ability to submit edits to Google Maps for the time being. “We are temporarily disabling editing on Map Maker starting today,” product manager Pavithra Kanakarajan said in a message to users, “while we continue to work towards making the moderation system more robust.”

Google has pledged to give an update by May 27. Until then, Google Maps users can still report mistakes and inappropriate material from the app.

At the time of publishing, searches for both “n*gger house” and “n*gger king” produced White House results.

Google plans to give an update of the issue by May 27, the Post writes.
