The mother of a 11-year-old from Georgia has slammed the school system for not taking stronger action against a school nurse who verbally assaulted her son in October.

Jason Ezzard, a sixth grader, was seen throwing a bag of chips in the cafeteria at Mundy’s Mill Middle School in Clayton County. School nurse Beverly Barnes then reportedly approached the student and told him, “I will f*ck you up.” Barnes is also accused of using a racial slur after the child wouldn’t respond to her question. According to 11 Alive:

“The nurse kept asking why he threw it, (and he) was saying, ‘Huh, huh,’” said one of the witnesses. “Then the nurse got mad and pushed his head and was saying, ‘I will knock your lights and I will f*ck you up.’”

Six students and three adults provided statements to the police about the incident. It was also filmed by the school’s surveillance cameras, but the footage was never released to the public. The child’s mother, Tormeka Ezzard, was, however, able to see the video, which she says shook her to the core.

“My heart, I swear, was going 100 miles per hour, and I had to remind myself to breathe,” she said. “She’s abused my child physically, mentally, and verbally, and no one will help me.”

Ezzard wants administrators to reopen the investigation and hold the nurse accountable.

“If it would’ve been the other way around, Jason would have been locked up, on the spot,” she said. “I would have been going to pick my child up at the Clayton County Juvenile Detention Center. What makes her any different from Jason?”

Since Barnes had no prior record with the children, she was only suspended for two days.
