Rappers being open about their romantic relationships outside of the booth is slowly but surely becoming a commonality among even the most of hardcore of emcees, but rapper Joe Budden is not here for Meek Mill’s shameless affection towards his girlfriend Nicki Minaj.

Meek’s long-confessed love for Nicki hasn’t been much of a secret since the two decided to officially go public with their relationship earlier this year, but the couple has certainly amped up the PDA in recent months. From countless lovey-dovey social media posts, to name dropping in interviews, to songs about each other, “Omeeka” has quickly become rap’s most talked about couple. Their on and off stage interactions at the 2015 BET Awards where they performed Meek’s newest single “All Eyes On You” (which features Nicki and is an ode to their relationship) was one of the week’s hot topics, but when Joe weighed in with this thoughts during the latest episode of his podcast, all hell broke loose.

In a nutshell, Joe went on a joking-but-not-really mini rant about how Meek’s music is too “hardcore” for him to be so publicly smitten with Nicki. After his podcast co-host Marisa Mendez said she found the relationship “cute,” Joe had this to say:

“Part of my problem with that is Meek’s music is too hard. Meek’s music is too hard for me to look at him with this f***ing sappy f**k-sh*t. Be the hardcore guy that I’m sure she was attracted to at some point. It’s nasty. I hate everything about it. I’m glad a dark-skinned guy is behaving this way. Light-skinned n****s, we not moving like this. We used to getting the bad b**ch. This guy…he’s acting like this b***h just stepped off of f*****g Mars and is like the only girl!

But I do appreciate them both keeping the hope of love alive.”

Naturally, Joe’s comments made their way back to Meek and he wasted no time responding on Twitter, first taking shots at Joe’s stint on Love & Hip Hop and his ex Tahiry’s brief tryst with NBA baller J.R. Smith:

Joe responded by taking a few subtle shots of his own with this reply:

The quick spat ended on this note:

Nicki later jumped in the mix, criticizing Joe for hating on Meek’s show of affection for her.

Considering that a large portion of Joe Budden’s catalouge and overall celebrity existence has been predicated on music about the women in his life for most of his career, he’s the last person who has room to throw shade towards another rapper for his demeanor when around the woman that he loves. Bye Joe.
