Queen Bey, Beyonce has raised more than $82,000 to help those affected by the water crisis in Flint, Michigan during her tour.

In February, Beyonce’s team announced that she would be supporting those living in Flint as they continue to feel the impacts of the water crisis, which has plagued them since 2014, when their water supply began being contaminated by high levels of lead.

She has kept her promise and Ivy McGregor, director of philanthropy and corporate relations at Beyonce’s company Parkwood Entertainment, presented a cheque of $82,234 (£58,113) to United Way of Genesee County officials, which offer aid to residents, on Monday (13Jun16).

“We were pleased to announce the collective funds raised through our United Way relationship which allowed fans to donate online to the Flint water crisis at the point of purchasing Beyoncé Formation World Tour concert ticket,” Ivy said.

The cheque was presented at a high school in Detroit, Michigan ahead of Beyonce’s concert in the city on Tuesday (14Jun16), which marks the end of the North American leg of the Formation World Tour.

At the school presentation, it was announced 14 students would receive gifts to help with their educational needs plus tickets to the Detroit show at Ford Field.

Beyonce, through her BeyGOOD initiative has partnered with the United Way to support local charities and Flint through her tour. For example, in her hometown of Houston, Texas, Beyonce raised funds for Bread of Life, which combats hunger throughout the city.

“We are so grateful for the support Beyonce has given to those in Flint and the way she has inspired her fans to fight for the education, health and financial stability of everyone in their communities,” said United Way Worldwide U.S. President Stacey D. Stewart. “This partnership demonstrates just how easy it can be to give back.”
