After prohibiting Sevyn Streeter from singing the national anthem because of her “We Matter” jersey last month, the Philadelphia 76ers have invited her to perform at their home game against the Los Angeles Lakers on December 16.

The gesture comes after the Sixers issued an apology to the R&B singer, stating that they’d made a poor decision.

“We are sorry that this happened,” they wrote in a statement. “After receiving feedback from our players, basketball operations staff and ownership group, we believe the wrong decision was made, and Sevyn should have been welcomed to sing. We apologize to her, and in an effort to move the conversation forward, we have reached out to offer her an opportunity to return and perform at a game of her choice.”

Streeter, who accepted their apology, said in an Instagram caption on Saturday (November 5): “Onwards & Upwards. Thank you all for your support. #WeMatter”

She also revealed her new partnership with the team as “an opportunity to create positive change and dialogue throughout the community.”

And yes — she’ll be her rocking her “We Matter” jersey when she performs at Sixers’ home game next month:
