FCC Indecency Policy Ruled “Vague”.
The U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals yesterday silenced the Federal Communications Commission’s indecency regulations, calling the rules “unconstitutionally vague.” FCC Commissioner Michael Copps in reaction to the 3-judge panel’s ruling issued a statement, calling it “anti-family,” adding that he was certain the FCC’s policy was “constitutional and enforceable.” Copps also added that he instructed the commission to “immediately clarify and strengthen its indecency framework.” In 2006, Fox, NBC, and other broadcasters sued the FCC, claiming the regulations were vague and unevenly enforced.
