On Saturday night he stirred up the sports nation with one of the “guttsiest” calls in Michigan State Athletics history, calling a successful fake field goal attempt to defeat Notre Dame in Over Time.

However, on Sunday morning former Ohio State Defensive Coordinator and current Spartan Head Football Coach Mark Dantonio was hospitalized after suffering a mild heart attack.

The 54-year-old Dantonio had surgery to put a stent in a blocked blood vessel leading to the heart and is expected to remain in the hospital a few more days.

Offensive coordinator Don Treadwell will fill in for Dantonio during his indefinite absence.
