Women of a healthy weight who drink a light to moderate amount of alcohol tend to gain less weight over time than non-drinkers. That’s the conclusion of a new study published Monday in the “Archives of Internal Medicine.” Researchers at Boston’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital studied the alcohol consumption of more than 19-thousand women, who started out at healthy weights. Over an average of 13 years of follow-up, most of the women in the study gained weight, but those who consumed a light to moderate amount of alcohol gained less weight and were less likely to become overweight or obese than women who drank no alcohol.

Always always always drink responsibly!

Move over high def flat screen TVs, 3D TV sets are here!! Panasonic will offer a 3D set today, with Samsung following later this month with 46-and 55-inch models. Cost for Sony’s 46-inch 3D model will be nearly $4,000. There are just some shows I don’t want to watch in 3D. I wonder how much the booster will be selling them for.

Follow the recipe below to become a keeper in the eyes and hearts of men.

sheknows.com hit the streets to find out straight from the mouths of men, what makes a great girlfriend.

Is it nightly nookie, legs for miles, free-time with the guys or just a BFF to call their own? Well, interestingly from coast to coast, 20-something to 40-something guys pretty much all want the same things, and truth be told, their formula is a lot less complex than ours tend to be. Follow the recipe below to become a keeper in the eyes and hearts of men.

A great girlfriend is a woman who:

ENCOURAGES FREEDOM
“All of my relationships have started to sour when my girlfriends began suffocating and trying to control me. As they attempted to police my every action and rob me of my freedom, we became adversaries.” – James, NY, 25

TRUSTS HER MAN
“If I catch a girl searching my phone or she starts suspiciously questioning me, it is over. A great girlfriend is secure in herself, and trusts me. If you put your faith in me, your feelings on the line and just trust me, the last thing I want to do is disappoint you.” – Shay, San Francisco, 35

HAS SIMILAR INTERESTS
“I need to have the same idea of what fun is as my girlfriend does. For example, I am a speed tourist – I can’t last with someone who would take 7 hours at the Vatican – 2 hours is plenty; I want to see the waterfall, not hike in it for hours, and so on. We need to like the same kind of restaurants, parties, etc. Also, be willing to try ‘my’ things because I will be willing to try yours.” – Mark, Seattle, 43

HAS A COMPATIBLE SEX DRIVE
“I can’t be with someone who doesn’t want sex as much as me, or more than me. We definitely need to be on the same page in bed.” – Gregory, Houston, 31

HAS A LIFE OF HER OWN
“The biggest thing that separates a good girlfriend from an OK one is someone who has a life of her own. If the relationship is a girl’s primary focus, invariably she finds things missing in it, whereas if it’s a compliment to the rest of her life’s goals and interests, the little things are no big deal.” – Matt, Los Angeles, 27

A woman accused of shaving her private parts and driving.

A bizarre case of multi-tasking resulted in a car accident last week. KeysNews.com is reporting that Meghan Mariah Barnes, was shaving her private parts when she rear-ended another vehicle last Tuesday. The 37-year-old Florida resident was reportedly on her way to visit her boyfriend. Following the accident, Barnes allegedly drove another half-mile and had her ex-husband jump in the driver’s seat to take the blame. Unfortunately, her trick didn’t work ,and she is now facing numerous charges including reckless driving and leaving the scene of a wreck. She could spend up to a year behind bars if convicted. The occupants of the other vehicle were treated for minor injuries.

I was adopted at six months and want more info on my bio father. Should I give up searching?

This Monday’s Matter of the Heart question:

Dear Misty-
I was put in to foster care when I was a baby. I left there at 6mos old. Was raised by to beautiful parents, who are deceased now. I always wanted to find my real family well finally it happened. I am 53 now. I met them on thanksgiving 2009. My bio family consist of 3 sisters and 1 brother. 3 childrens were raised by real mother. Myself and other sister, were adopted out. Long story short. Real mother did not want to meet me. She did not want to live in past. But she did come. Asked question about father she told me very little, I emailed her and wanted to tell me more, but she never replied. I do have her phone number. She is married now to someone else. She said my father is deceased. I just want to know about him, so I am trying to see if I can find an obituary on him. I need her to tell me more information. She did tell me he was married to someone else at the time, and that she knew his wife. Should I try to get her to talk more, should I call her. I have the feeling she doesn’t want to be bothered by the past. But I want to know about my fathers side. Tell me what should I do?

Answer:
If I were in this situation I imagine I’d feel the same way. I would want to know all I could about both parents. Sounds like you’re facing a real challenge when it comes to getting information about your father. But it also sounds like you may have more than one resource when it comes to getting info.

First, let me say I admire your strength. I know this is probably no easy task.

1-I would encourage you to reach out to your sisters and brother and see what info they may have about your dad.
2-Next, I would reach out to your fathers wife, with the help of your bio mom. Your fathers wife may be willing/able to provide you with info you and want/need.
3-Finally, I would come up with a list of all the questions I wanted to know about my dad. Then I would consolidate those questions, to a smaller list of questions. I’d then reach out to my bio mom one last time, through email. Email allows her time to process the questions and answer them on her time, without feeling pressured to answer on the spot. But be patient. In her defense, I wouldn’t assume she doesn’t want to be bothered with your or the past. I imagine, she may be dealing/carrying around a lot of emotions she may not have dealt with yet. But! Don’t give up on her. You said she didn’t want to meet you, but she decided to. Which to me, says she cares.

I do think you deserve to know about your father. But try to prepare yourself for what you will learn about your dad, and what you may never find out about him. I definitely think it’s worth pursing. You may not be able to move on until you try. I do think you owe it to yourself.

Thank you for writing in to Misty’s Matters of the Heart~ Misty

Columbus could become the latest city in the state to ban texting while driving. A proposed amendment to the city code that would prohibit texting while driving will be discussed during a public hearing held by the City Council on Tuesday. If approved, texting while driving would become a primary offense, allowing a police officer to pull you over if you’re observed texting while driving. A ticket would cost $150.00.
