This is why we need to do more in our community because for some reason our generation shoots at any and everything. The first thing some thugs think about is shooting somebody. Things are not that serious people. Of course throwing eggs at someone’s car is not a good idea but your life shouldn’t be at risk for doing it.

The man accused of shooting a 14-year-old egg thrower more than three years ago pleaded guilty today to charges of voluntary manslaughter and tampering with evidence.

The trial of Michael S. Gross Jr., 22, formerly of South Linden, was supposed to start today in Franklin County Common Pleas Court. He was charged with murder and tampering with evidence in the death of Danny Crawford on Dec. 2, 2006.

Judge Charles Schneider sentenced Gross to 15 years in prison. Gross has been jailed on unrelated charges, so the new sentence won’t begin until the current sentence is served. Schneider said.

Crawford and two friends were on W. Broad Street on the Hilltop about 12:30 a.m. when one of the youths threw an egg at a sport-utility vehicle.

Police said the driver of the SUV chased the boys and pulled in behind 28 N. Terrace Ave. A passenger got out and started shooting, police said. Crawford was shot once.READ MORE
