After much back and forth all week, Sacha Baron Cohen arrived on the red carpet dressed as his Dictator character Admiral General Aladeen and chose Ryan Seacrest to interview him. After joking that he bought his socks in Wal-Mart, Aladeen explained that he had brought the ashes of his good friend Kim Jong Il to the red carpet and proceeded to dump them all over Seacrest. Said Aladeen, “It’s OK. Now if somebody asks you who you are wearing, you can say Kim Jong Il!” The joke was totally lost on the E! host, who seemed annoyed that he was Cohen’s victim, and spent the rest of the pre-show talking about it.
