Timothy Keith Brown failed to appear in court to answer to charges of criminal damaging and criminal mischief.

Columbus City officials are asking for help locating a west-side resident who is accused of breaking into cars in his neighborhood.

According to the city attorney’s office, Timothy Keith Brown failed to appear in court to answer to charges of criminal damaging and criminal mischief. He is accused in connection with a series of car break-ins in his neighborhood.

In the early morning of March 1, police responded to a call of a man breaking into cars at an apartment complex on the west side.

Upon arrival, officers heard a female scream, and saw a man, later identified as Brown, running after reportedly being inside a Ford Mustang.

After a brief foot chase, Brown was apprehended and questioned.

Investigators said he initially indicated that he was going to the store, but later claimed he ran after arguing with his girlfriend.

Columbus City Attorney Richard C. Pfeiffer, Jr. said that according to reports, a search identified several vehicles with fresh pry marks and a flat head screw driver lying in the grass outside Brown’s apartment.

Officers retrieved two Garmin GPS devises, a cell phone, two CD players, several cell phone car charger adapters, and a large pile of change mixed with broken safety glass from Brown’s residence.

Officials said Brown’s criminal history includes charges of robbery, theft, disorderly conduct, domestic violence, assault, criminal trespass, breaking and entering, sexual imposition, possession of criminal tools, escape, receiving stolen property, felony possession of drugs, driving without a license, hit-skip, possession of drug paraphernalia, providing false information to an officer, and felony non-support of dependents.

Brown, 32, is described as a white male, 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing 160 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.

His last known address is 2444 Bancroft St. in Columbus.

“He certainly has a diverse criminal portfolio, but breaking into his neighbors’ cars seems like a new entrepreneurial enterprise for him,” said Assistant City Prosecutor Bill R. Hedrick. “I guess it’s his version of working from home.”

Reports indicate that Brown’s distinguishing features may include tattoos of a clown, a skull, a snake, and a Pittsburgh Steelers logo.

Anyone with information on Brown is asked to call 614-645-8874 or emailĀ brhedrick@columbus.gov.
