A plan has been adopted by the Columbus City School Board of Education to close nine schools. Under the plan four elementary schools and five middle schools would be closed.
The elementary schools targeted are:
Literature-Based Alternative at Hubbard
Fair Alternative
Deshler
Douglas Alternative.
The middle schools:
Clinton
Indianola Math Science and Technology
Eastmoor
Franklin Alternative
Beery
According to the panel, the schools were selected based on their falling enrollment and the ability of nearby schools to take in those students.
