In the 1:16 minute clip, the asthmatic girl is seen pinned under the officer as she screams, “Stop!” and “I Can’t Breathe,” the latter plea mirroring Eric Garner’s death in New York City.

Watch the video here:

Garner, who was also asthmatic, died after NYPD officer Daniel Pantaleo applied a chokehold to him during a stop in Staten Island in July. A grand jury recently declined to indict Pantaleo in the murder.

According to ABC, the girl’s mother called authorities after the 15-year-old left her car and didn’t return. The teen has a history of running away, she said.

Luis Paul Puleo Santiago, who captured the video, wrote on his Facebook that he “just watched mesa PD punch a 15 year old girl in the face 2 times she was a runaway is this rely how we treat emotionally unstable teens?” He also claimed the officers wanted him to delete the video before adding, “Share the f— out of this s—.”

Officers who arrived on the scene attempted to talk to her. A female officer placed her hand on the girl’s arm. That is when the teen allegedly kicked and punched her in the face, the site reports.

At that point, the officer decided to use force. Following her arrest, she voluntarily committed herself for psychiatric evaluation. She is currently facing assault charges. The responding officer sustained minor face and head injuries from the incident, the station reports.
