Kendrick Lamar may have premiered his video for “King Kunta” in the middle of Times Square on Wednesday evening, but don’t be mistaken: The good kid’s mad city of choice is still Compton, Calif.
That’s evident in his new video, which features Kendrick and friends strolling through the Southern California streets, dancing in a parking lot at the Compton Fashion Center and a convenience store. Then if that’s not enough, the mood is one of total celebration, not to mention, he does some ferocious rapping. His album To Pimp a Butterfly remains No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for a second week with 123,000, bringing his two-week total to 447,000.
