Nationwide outcry has seemed to have led to several of the missing Washington, D.C. teen girls being found safe.

NBC Washington is reporting that six of the dozen-plus girls reported missing have been found. So far, police have found Demetria Carthens (17); Heaven Shamte (15); Rayna Gross (16); Jaylen Lee (14);Michelle Jordan (16); and Dashann Wallace (15). Jordan had been missing since last week while the others had been missing since early March and February.

Police have not revealed where they found the girls or how or why they went missing.

The news is somewhat of a relief, but with many girls still missing, there is still work to do. These discoveries can be credited, in part, to a nationwide outcry on social media about the lack of media coverage and the lack of effort on the part of local police.

Since the word has been spreading, D.C. Mayor Muriel E. Bowser created a task force charged with rescuing missing teens. There is also now an interactive map showing where the reported missing teens were seen last.
