John Witherspoon, AKA “Pops” says he talked to Ice Cube and a new “Friday” is in the works.
In an interview with The Power 95.3’s GetUpCrew in Orlando, Witherspoon said that it looks like the first Friday movie since 2002’s Friday After Next could finally be coming. He says he ran into Ice Cube at an airport recently and that he told him the project is a go.
“I was at the airport and I saw Ice Cube. Cube said they gonna do another Friday. He said he wants to meet with me last week–this week, but he couldn’t make it, but we’re going to meet next week to get things together…there’s a new guy at Warner Bros. Thank God!”
A fourth Friday movie has been in demand for more than a decade now. Last year the rumor intensified when fake flyers featuring Cube, his song Oshea Jackson, Jr. and DC Young Fly began circulating online. After weeks of the images being shared, Cube finally came forward to shoot down the rumors.
Cube has yet to confirm or deny Witherspoon’s claims. He’s busy prepping to launch his BIG3 basketball league.
