HBO 'True Blood' Season 5 Premiere - Red Carpet

Nelsan Ellis was one of the stars of HBO’s “True Blood” and portrayed the popular character Lafayette Reynolds, and we are saddened to report the actor has died at the age of 39. Heart failure is the reported cause of this untimely death.

After “True Blood” ended in 2014, Ellis continued to work and appeared in 11 episodes of CBS’s “Elementary.” Alan Ball, the creator of “True Blood” said: “Nelsan was a singular talent whose creativity never ceased to amaze me. Working with him was a privilege.”

Ellis is survived by his father, grandmother and son Breon Ellis. Sincere condolences to those mourning the loss of Nelsan Ellis.
