During a recent interview on a podcast with Marcus Thompson and Tim Kawakami of The Athletic, Thompson voiced that he would likely consider taking a discount to remain with Golden State. Thompson has 37 million left of his contract signed in 2014 that was worth 70 million. He will be up for free agency come 2019
Kawakami: “Could you (take a discount?”)
Klay Thompson: “I probably could, yeah. That much? I don’t know. I don’t make as much as Kevin off the court.”
…
“If it’s a few million … It’s a blessing whatever contract I sign. I would definitely consider it cause I don’t want to lose anybody.”

If the 27 yr old Thompson remains true to his word the, this could help keep the Warriors’ championship window open for many more years down the line.
