The company employs 35,000 people nationwide.
A Nationwide spokesperson confirmed that the insurance company is planning on cutting 400 positions.
The company is the fifth largest employer in the city with currently 435 open positions available. The cuts are dispersed across the country with no details as too how many of those cuts are here in Columbus.
Director of Public Relations Eric Hardgrove said their job eliminations are “ongoing adjustments” the company is making to “provide an increasingly seamless experience for members and distribution partners and position the company for long-term growth.”
