A seventh-grader was hospitalized Tuesday after suffering a self-inflicted gunshot wound at an Ohio middle school.

Jackson Memorial Middle School in Massillon, Ohio, and the high school were placed on lockdown, according to the Jackson Local School District’s website. All four elementary schools in the district are closed, and all extracurricular activities were canceled for the day. Massillon is 49 miles south of Cleveland.

Jackson Township Police Chief Mark Brink said the student shot himself in a bathroom.

Investigators say no other students were hurt, and they don’t know yet whether the shooting Tuesday morning was intentional.

School Superintendent Christopher DiLoreto said the school is still considering whether there will be classes Wednesday.
