With a majority vote 59 to 35, the Ohio House passed the “Heartbeat Bill,” that would ban abortion at the first detectable fetal heartbeat. This will be one of the strictest abortion bills in the country if passed.

During the vote, the Ohio House was filled with emotional pleas from both sides to ask colleagues to not vote for the bill. Many are saying it is a cruel bill that doesn’t include women who are victims of rape. The same bill was vetoed by current governor John Kasich back in 2016.

The only exception would be if the pregnancy would cause risk of death orĀ “a substantial and irreversible impairment of a major bodily function,” to the mother.
