The Ohio State Buckeyes are set to take on the Washington Huskies on New Years Day in the 105th Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.

The Buckeyes who won the Big Ten CHampionship Saturday night with a 45-24 win over Northwestern finished with a 12-1 record but missed the College Football Playoffs due to an upset loss to Purdue in October. The Buckeyes will face a 10-3 Huskies team who won the Pac 12 Championship.

This is the first time in the college football’s playoff era that the champion of the Pac-12 will meet the champion of the Big Ten on New Year’s Day in Pasadena. That should attract fans as both schools have been away from the Rose Bowl for quite some time. This is just Ohio State second trip to Pasadena in 22 years, while the Huskies last made their appearance in 2000.

The Buckeyes’ powerful offense, led by Heisman Trophy hopeful Dwayne Haskins, who led the nation with 47 touchdown passes and finished with 4,580 yards passing in a spectacular season, takes on a Huskies’ imposing defense that allows just under 16 points per game.

The schools will be meeting for the 12th time, but the first since 2007 when a Jim Tressel’s Buckeyes beat the Huskies 33-14.
