Ellen has admitted to making a few phone calls for Kevin Hart to get re-hired to host the Oscars. However, the reason for Kevin Hart stepping down from the opportunity is because of his old homophobic tweets which resurfaced and caused a lot of backlash. Ellen claims the Oscars is open to the request:
“’We want him to host, whatever we can do, we’d be thrilled,’” DeGeneres said the Academy told her. “The Academy is saying, ‘What can we do to make this happen.’”
