Fans who attended Erykah Badu’s Chicago concert were caught off guard when the legendary star came to the defense of R. Kelly during her set at the Aragon Ballroom.
According to several in attendance, Badu, know for her banter and knowledge dropping in between songs, defended Kelly, who is currently facing several resurfaced sexual abuse allegations.
One concert-goer tweeted: “I really want to say how much I loved Erykah Badu’s concert tonight. But I can’t get over how she tried to justify and defend R. Kelly’s actions and reputation during her set… I’m so disappointed.”Another attendee referred to what the songstress is believed to have said onstage: ‘“What if one of the people who was assaulted by R Kelly becomes an offender? we gonna crucify them too?’ -erykah Badu at her Chicago concert.”
Badu took to her IG with o apology but instead a post stating that “Having eyes that can see all points of view is a blessing … and a curse in the court of public opinion.”
