Fans of the late XXXTENTACION have been speculating for days the arrival of the rapper’s baby and over the weekend sources in his camp confirmed that the birth of his son, Gekyume, are true.
It was confirmed via an Instagram Story uploaded on X’s page with a simple message and a baby emoji that read, “Yume has officially arrived.”
The child’s name comes from a word that XXXTENTACION, born Jahseh Onfroy, had actually made up. According to Onfroy, the word, pronounced geck-yoom, signifies being in a “different state’ or next “universe” of thinking.
John Cunningham, who worked closely with X, teased the birth of Gekyume this week with a tweet, writing “it’s baby week.”
While the excitement for his fans and family was felt it was also a bittersweet moment as X’s son was delivered just three days o what would have been his 21st birthday. The South Florida rapper was gunned down and fatally shot June 18 while leaving a motorcycle dealership in Deerfield Beach, Florida. The conception of his first child with Jenesis Sanchez was announced soon after.
