In Cedar Springs, Michigan on Monday, February 18th, Michigan authorities arrived to an utterly tragic crime scene. A mother and 3 children were all found dead.
According to reports, Aubrianne Moore, 28, picked up her kids from school in the middle of the school day leading administrators to believe they would be attending doctors appointments. However, instead of appointments the mom of three took her kids out to lunch and then to a secluded forest area and shot them all to death.
The Kent County Sheriff’s Office detectives said Moore shot the children with a bolt-action hunting rifle. After she shot them, she then put the kids back in her car and drove them to her boyfriends home. This is where she also shot herself making her crimes a triple murder-suicide.
Moore’s boyfriend found the bodies of Moore’s eldest children, 6-year-old Cassidy Rodery and 8-year-old Kyrie Rodery. He also discovered his daughter, 2-year-old Alaina Rau inside the vehicle, which was left parked in the driveway of his home. Moore’s body was found just outside of the car.
According to court documents found on Aubrianne Moore, a social worker previously recommended that Moore undergo mental health treatment after she began exhibiting strange behaviors last September. The social workers report classified Moore as dangerous and she was diagnosed with “unspecified schizophrenia”. She was instructed to complete 60 days of in-patient treatment at Forest View Hospital in Grand Rapids. However, she was discharged on deferral status on September 28th, 2019.
Court documents reveal that Moore was, in fact, extremely paranoid. She would do things like not eat because she believed the food was contaminated and she’d stay up every night in fear of burglars entering the home. Moore would also keep her children home from school if she felt the TV was telling her a school bus crash was going to happen.
After searching her various social media pages, investigators say she had been making statements indicating thoughts of her children being in danger. They believe this may be what led her to perform these horrendous acts.
Private memorial services have been set for the girls. Plans for a service for Moore are still pending.
