I am so over hearing about this whole Vampire Facial situation! Procedure where blood is drawn from a client and using a machine, separated into platelets, that is than applied to the face. the main benefit of a vampire facial or PRP facial is to helps stimulate collagen.
According to NYPN:
The New Mexico Department of Health announced two cases of HIV following injection-related procedures at VIP Spa in Albuquerque Monday.
VIP spa closed Sept. 7, 2018, after it was discovered there was potential risks for HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C infections from the spa’s practices during an inspection by the NMDOH and the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department, Barbers and Cosmetologists Board.
According to a statement posted on the official Vampire Facial’s website from the Cellular Medicine Association, VIP Spa was using the name “Vampire Facial” without being on a certified list of providers.
Following two patients who have tested positive for HIV after receiving injection procedures at the spa, the NMDOH recommends patients receive testing for HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C. Over 100 patients have been tested already.
The NMDOH also advised that any person who wishes to receive a cosmetic service “involving needle injections” should verify a licensed medical provider is providing the services.
