After she had been trapped for 10 hours American aid worker Jillian Thorp was rescued by her husband from a wreckage in Haiti.

Frank Thorp was more than 100 miles away when the Earthquake first hit and did not realize the severity of the event until he came back to the capital city.

Mrs. Thorp was buried under the wreckage of a building which had previously served as the headquarters for the Haitian Ministries for the Diocese of Norwich, Connecticut.  She has some major bruises and is having difficulty walking, but is recovering well.
