It was one year ago today that President Barack Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States and the country’s first African-American president. The realities of governing in challenging times have seen Obama’s public approval ratings slowly sink over the past year.
As Obama was sworn-in, he inherited a deepening recession and two wars. One year later, the U.S. remains in two wars and the national economy has moved into a sluggish recovery. The president will address a joint session of Congress January 27th to deliver his first State of the Union speech.
