Former NFL star Le’Veon Bell is pushing back against a lawsuit filed by his cousin, Jada Bell, who accused him of years of sexual abuse beginning when she was a child.

The incestuous and nonconsensual allegations surfaced in a Franklin County, Ohio lawsuit in March 2024 that resulted in a jury awarding Jada a $25 million judgment against Le’Veon last month. Court documents claim the abuse began when Jada was around six or seven years old and continued for more than a decade. This includes Bell’s time at Michigan State University. She claims the abuse ended when she reached 18 years old.

His brother, La’Vonte Bell, was also named in the lawsuit and was ordered to pay an additional $11.5 million in damages, totaling out at $36,500,000 million in compensatory and punitive damages.

Le’Veon Bell (32) has denied the allegations. His attorney, Thomas Shaffer, told TMZ that Bell was never properly served in the case and is filing a motion to overturn the ruling.

“The default judgment granted was based upon violations of his Fifth Amendment rights of due process for failing to be served,” Shaffer said. “My client adamantly denies any and all allegations that have been lodged against him.”

On Tuesday, Bell addressed the situation during a Twitch livestream, claiming he only learned of the lawsuit days earlier. He has not been charged with any criminal offenses related to the allegations.

Bell, a former Pro Bowl running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers, played in the NFL from 2013 to 2021 before transitioning to professional boxing.
