New hip hop group Travis Porter stopped in to our affiliate station hot 1079 in Atlanta. We had a chance to interview the group about their current projects.

The Atlanta group, which consists of Strap, Ali and Quez, has a lot going on right now so naturally they had a lot to talk about.

As an example of how far Travis Porter has come in just a matter of months, the group went from passing out their music outside of Philips Arena at last year’s Birthday Bash to appearing on this year’s show.

To document the group’s struggles growing up in their native Decatur, which have included jail stints, shootings and the lure of gangs — something relatively new to Atlanta — Travis Porter released the documentary “Unbelievable.” The group has also released several mixtapes, including “Streets R Us” with Waka Flocka Flame and “Proud To Be A Problem.”

Travis Porter’s “Go Shorty Go” is currently burning up the airwaves in Atlanta, and the group just dropped another single, “I Put On A Show.” They were even getting ready to tour Europe at the time of our interview.

Travis Porter also talked about playing the BMI Urban Showcase in Atlanta with Drake and their past feud with Roscoe Dash over the song “All The Way Turnt Up,” saying there won’t be any animosity at Birthday Bash 15 when both acts take the stage.
