Serena Eliminated At French Open

Just one day after Roger Federer was eliminated from the French Open quarterfinals, Serena Williams fell to the same fate. The 2002 French Open champion was eliminated yesterday by Australian Samantha Stosur. Serena, who hasn’t been to the semifinals in France since 2003, lost a match point at 5-4 in the deciding set and ended up losing 6-2, 6-7 (2), 8-6. Meanwhile, Stosur’s upset is her second in a row. She eliminated four-time champion Justine Henin in the fourth round and will face fourth-seeded Jelena Jankovic on Thursday.
