It may still be warm out, but believe it or not, it’s time to start thinking about flu season. And thanks to CVS, folks who may have not been able to afford flu shots in the past will now be able to get them. The drug store chain announced Wednesday that it is giving away $5 million worth of seasonal flu shots to people without health insurance. Starting September 20th, flu shot vouchers will be available at clinics and community health centers (specific locations will be announced on the 20th) and consumers will be able to redeem them at any of CVS’s 7,100 locations and its retail MinuteClinics. Last year CVS gave away 100,000 seasonal flu shots, worth about $3 million. Now if only they could find a cure for the common cold.
