The movie theatre experience is just one more aspect of our lives that we can expect to be overtaken by social media. The Documentary based on Bob Marley’s life will hit theaters on April 20th. However, what makes this showing different is that it will simultaneously stream on Facebook for a $6.99 rental fee. This is the first time that a U.S. film has run on a social network during its release date.
The movie titled ‘Marley’ is produced by Kevin MacDonald and will also be released via video-on-demand on April 20th. Although this is the first time a U.S. movie has done this, the occurrence is quite common among smaller independent films. Either way, it seems that ‘Marley’ will not be the only one benefiting from this. Facebook is set to give a portion of the proceeds to Save The Children, a charity for needy children.
