*Mementos from the 2012 Olympics performance of gymnast Gabrielle Douglas will be displayed in the Smithsonian Institution, the museum announced.
The gold medal winner’s wrist tape, uneven-bar grips and access credentials to the London games are among the keepsakes Douglas donated to the Institution’s National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, and will be displayed beginning Feb. 1, the (Norfolk) Virginian-Pilot reported Wednesday.
A leotard Douglas wore during her first competitive season in 2003 will also be on display, a release from the museum said.

Douglas was the first female African-American to win an Olympic gold medal in the women’s all-around gymnastics competition, and the first American gymnast to win individual all-around gold and team gold medals in a single Olympics.
