COLUMBUS (Kellie Hanna) — Tonya Collins is recovering at OSU’s Wexner Medical Center after reportedly being burned by her husband.

Police say Stephen Nicholson called 9-1-1 early Friday morning about a woman who was on a sidewalk in front of 79 N. Hague Ave. in West Columbus around 3 a.m.

Apparently, the woman’s husband poured some type of liquid on her burning her severely last Thursday.  Police say the woman is telling them the liquid was boiling water.

She has second and third degree burns from her forehead to her waist as well as some small third degree burns on her legs. There was some type of assault early Friday morning as well which is when she left and was seen on outside on the sidewalk.

When police officers tried to question her husband, James Collins, at 187 N. Harris Avenue about what happened, he slammed the door in their faces. He was coaxed out of the home and has been detained.

He’s being held in the Franklin County Jail and is charged with felonious assault and domestic violence.   James Collins is expected to appear in court Saturday morning. SEE VIDEO HERE
